More than five decades ago, Operation Santa Claus (OSC) began an annual tradition rooted in compassion—bringing toys, food, and hope to families who need it most. While some like to say that a “Lockheed Martin version of St. Nicholas” delivered the first basket long ago, what has truly endured is the organization’s unwavering commitment to caring for others. Despite its long and meaningful history, OSC remains forever young, energized by the joy it creates for both the volunteers who give their time and the children whose lives are brightened by their generosity.
Operation Santa Claus is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization made up of Lockheed Martin and United Launch Alliance employees and retirees who share a common goal: helping others. Guided by their motto, “We’re for Kids,” OSC strives to make a difference—sometimes for just a moment, but often with an impact that lasts far longer. At the heart of OSC are the hundreds, and perhaps thousands, of dedicated volunteers who make this mission possible year after year.
Throughout the year, OSC’s Board of Directors works closely with social service partner organizations across the Denver metro area, including Home Front Military Network (HFMN). Each year, OSC reaches out to HFMN to ask for the names of families they can support—families who include service members, veterans, and their loved ones who may be facing difficult circumstances.
In 2025, HFMN was honored to refer 11 families, including several from Buckley who participate in the Exceptional Family Member Program. We provide OSC with general demographic information about parents, along with wish lists of toys and clothing the children want or need. We also share important considerations—such as disabilities, family dynamics, or unique challenges—to ensure each child receives thoughtful and appropriate gifts. This information is handled with care and is used only to help OSC plan accordingly. In addition, OSC generously provides grocery gift cards to parents, easing some of the financial burden during the holiday season.
From all of us at Home Front Military Network, we extend our most heartfelt thank you to Operation Santa Claus. Your deep care for HFMN’s mission and your compassion for service members, veterans, and their families means more than words can express. Because of you, families feel seen, supported, and reminded that their sacrifices are not forgotten. We are truly grateful for your partnership and for the joy you bring to so many lives each year.
