This is the story of Daniel, a financial assistance case that turned into something so much bigger. Daniel never thought that when he called Home Front Military Network (HFMN), it would lead to a life-changing Christmas for him and his family. HFMN was able to provide Daniel with resources and financial assistance so he could survive, and a Christmas miracle for his family so he could thrive. Daniel, a Post-9/11 Army veteran, reached out to HFMN for financial assistance for rent to avoid being evicted. He has a wife and one son living with him and another child who lives out of state, whom he also supports. He has a 100% service-connected disability rating and can usually cover his expenses with his disability check. After a fraudulent dispute, his disability claim and only form of income was sent to his ex-partner. At this time, Daniel’s truck also broke down. With the holidays quickly approaching and no money for his upcoming bills, Daniel reached out to Home Front Military Network for assistance.
HFMN’s case manager worked with Daniel, provided rent assistance for a portion of his rent that was due, helped him work with his landlord to create a payment plan for the remaining amount, and connected him to other resources in the community. Due to the unforeseen bills, Daniel did not have the funds to provide his family with the Christmas he had hoped to. At the same time, one of HFMN’s sponsors, Davidson Technologies, partnered with HFMN to adopt a veteran family to provide Christmas presents. Daniel was selected and received a wonderful bounty of Christmas presents for his whole family. Daniel, his wife, and his son were extremely grateful for the rent assistance, keeping them from becoming homeless, and for the fantastic Christmas gifts. Daniel’s VA wage garnishment issue has been resolved, returning the family to financial stability, and their spirits have greatly improved thanks to HFMN.
Daniel told Home Front Military Network, “HFMN delivered a blessing in such a time of need. My family and I were in dire need. When all the doors were closing, HFMN opened their doors. Paid my rent. Asked for a list of gifts my loved ones would enjoy. Never have I asked for anything. For my family, there is no battle I would shy away from. When the time came, HFMN answered the call. Daniel and his family had a wonderful Christmas full of new clothes, milkshakes in new glassware, dinner cooked in their new frying pans, and sweet family memories created painting with their new art supplies. Home Front Military Network cares for veterans and their families and it is an exciting joy when a financial assistance case turns into something so much bigger.
