Homefront Military Network (HFMN) is excited to announce our Parsons Honoring the Brave Golf Scramble to pay tribute to our true heroes — veterans, service members, and their families.
The tournament, which will take place on June 24th, 2022 at Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club in Fort Carson, benefits HFMN’s extremely critical mission to support this deserving population by providing emergency financial assistance and connecting service members, veterans, and their families to the many resources available to them in Colorado, such as legal assistance, employment, housing, and more.
According to the 2021 Colorado Health Access survey, last year 8.8% of the Centennial State’s population were active military service members or veterans, representing an estimated 380,000 people. Colorado has the 11th highest percentage of military personnel in all 50 states.
Right now, HFMN’s services are needed more than ever. Last year, we received requests for assistance from 3,800 callers and made more than 2,100 referrals to our partner organizations. Of all of the clients we helped, 86% said HFMN’s support helped reduce their stress and anxiety levels. This year, we are working to provide even greater access to these critical services and to expand to more areas throughout the state.
In addition to putting themselves in harm’s way, Colorado’s service members spend months—or even years—away from their families. They perform this service with the recognition that it could include major personal risks and costs. The children and spouses of service members also make tremendous sacrifices, often moving every couple of years, and enduring long absences waiting for their families to be complete again.
Supporting these brave service members and their families as well as veterans is one of the many reasons why HFMN fundraisers, such as the Parsons Honoring the Brave Charity Golf Scramble, are so important.
Gorgeous Cheyenne Shadows Golf Course is a phenomenal setting for this extremely popular benefit golf tournament. The 18-hole championship golf course, situated at the base of Cheyenne Mountain, boasts sweeping views and meticulously kept fairways. Fort Carson’s Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club is a fabulous place to spend a day with family and friends to support a worthy cause.
Designed by Richard M. Phelps, Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club opened in 1971. It has a slope rating of 130 (difficulty for bogey golfers) and 71.6 USGA rating (difficulty for scratch golfers). Fort Carson, home of the Cheyenne Shadows Golf Club, is known as “The Mountain Post.” Located near Colorado Springs in El Paso County, it is the state’s largest military base.
Last year’s tournament was so popular that it sold out a whole three weeks before the event! Participants loved the contests, prizes, and breakfast and lunch. This year’s meals will be catered by Chick-fil-A and Carrabba’s Italian Grill, with grab-and-go breakfast served from 7 a.m. and lunch and awards starting at 1 p.m.
Are you interested in a sponsorship? HFMN is seeking businesses that would like to sponsor a golf course hole at the cost of $500. We also have Gold, Silver, and Bronze Star sponsorships available!
