We are honored to recognize Verizon as one of our Gold Star Sponsors of our Honoring the Brave℠ Breakfast. Verizon’s dedication to the military community goes beyond just words—it is deeply embedded in their corporate initiatives and outreach. Verizon has a longstanding commitment to supporting service members, veterans, and their families, and has partnered with Home Front Military Network since our merger in 2020. Their innovative approach to corporate social responsibility has created a ripple effect of positive change within the veteran community.
Verizon’s Commitment to Veterans and Their Families
Here are some highlights of their ongoing efforts:
● Veteran Employment: In 2023, Verizon hired more than 600 members of the military community, including veterans, National Guard members, reservists, and military spouses. In Colorado alone, Verizon employs more than 115 individuals who have served in the military.
● White Glove Approach for Military Spouses: Military spouses, who often face the challenge of frequent relocations, benefit from Verizon’s “white glove” service. This program ensures that spouses can transfer their roles with them to new duty stations, or Verizon works to find suitable new positions when that’s not possible.
● Veteran-Owned Vendors: Verizon is proud to work with veteran-owned businesses such as Call for Fire, its apparel partner for military-themed designs. A portion of the proceeds from these sales supports military and veteran nonprofits. In 2023, Verizon donated more than $16,000 to these organizations.
● Diverse Suppliers: In 2023, Verizon spent $6.1 billion on goods and services from diverse suppliers, including veteran-owned businesses. Throughout the past decade, their investments in diverse suppliers have totaled $54.3 billion, demonstrating their commitment to inclusive economic growth.
● VALOR Employee Resource Group: Verizon supports VALOR, an employee resource group for veterans and advocates, with more than 8,000 members globally, ensuring that veterans have a voice and community within the company.
